#bookstack happiness, Borders sadness

Today was my last day in Indianapolis, visiting my family and watching my brother graduate from college. There's this cafe I like up near Keystone at the Crossing, and my sister and I took my mom there for a Mother's Day lunch. Fantastic omelets, by the way. Around the corner from the cafe is

I used to come here when I was in high school (which is down the street). They had the best selection of jazz. So it made me sad to see this:

But, and I'll admit it, I'm a little bit of an opportunist, so I went in and came out with

That haul doesn't even count the books I picked up at the two Half-Price Bookstores my brother and I went to. Good thing I left space in my duffle.

#bookstack 3/20/11

For the week. It's spring break from the university, so I'll also be catching up on grad school work.

#bookstack 3/6/11

It's book fair time at my school, so I thought I'd share some of the books I picked up this week. (Note that a few of the titles I did pick up at Barnes & Noble and are not distributed by Scholastic.)

I've read Lubar's Battle of the Red Hot Pepper Weenies and Michael Scott's The Alchemyst, but thought I'd go ahead and include them because they are both second copies.

I saw I Am Number Four last night, so I think that might be next on my list.

#bookstack for Superbowl Sunday

Superbowl Sunday and no football books.

When I found out we weren't having school on Monday, I picked up a stack of books from the library. With the exception of Going Bovine, I read them all already.

#bookstack 1/30/11

I had to put the dew instead of the coffee cup. Artemis Fowl 6 would be here too if I hadn't left it at school.

1/16/11 #BookStack

From what I understand, my Twitter friends have been doing this for a while, and I happened to pick up on it last night. Every Sunday, they post a picture of their bookstack with a coffee mug. It leads to conversation about what we're reading and it's a great place to get book recommendations. So here's my current bookstack.  I think I'm going to try to read it down, then start over again. (Although, given the current conversation on Twitter, I may make it bigger before it gets smaller.)

I think I may start with Elijah of Buxton and see where we go from there.  My friend Aaron says that Watchmen took him 2 weeks to really get through, so I may start that one too and let it play out. I always need more than one book with me anyway. Oh, and I'm reading Readicide on my iPad right now, hence why that's in the picture.
